Board President

Vachon Brackett

“Every time you state what you want or believe, you’re the first to hear it. It’s a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don’t put a ceiling on yourself.” —Oprah Winfrey

My name is Vachon Brackett and I hold the position of Board President with Show and Tell. When I read and think about this quote, it allows me to envision success that ALL people want to have within their lives. No one should be limited to the opportunities that they have because of their race or disability that they may have. Throughout my 17+ years in education, I have strived to ensure that every student that I served has been able to dream and want to see themselves successful. It is why I continue to do this work each and every day.

I am a proud graduate of The Colorado College located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics. I began working in the Office of Minority Student Life where I was fascinated by helping students learn more about themselves at the school through many student groups. This experience opened doors for my career and I became a middle school math teacher in downtown Denver. I saw firsthand the inequity students of color face each day they walked into school buildings and have been fighting for changes to that system ever since. I’ve been fortunate to be able to move into school leadership as an Assistant Principal and eventually Principal of schools both in Denver and Dallas, TX.

What I bring to Show and Tell is an unwavering commitment to ensure that the families we serve have what they need in order for their children to be successful in their lives. I bring knowledge sitting on both sides of the table as a parent of a child with Autism as well as being a person in the school helping support children to reach their full potential.

I am a proud member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, a husband, and a father of 2 amazing sons.
